Welcome to Montara Dog Blog!

Welcome to the Montara Dog Blog.  The purposes of this web site are:

To provide a forum for everyone who walks their dog(s) in Montara and the surrounding trails. See the blog page for further information.

And to encourage responsible behavior on the part of dogs and their owners.  I know that it is hard for readers of this blog to believe, but there are people out there who do not like dogs!  The reasons for this attitude are discussed in further detail on the blog page.

JOIN THE “MONTARA DOG GROUP!”  Keep informed on efforts of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) to restrict dogs in the open space that surrounds Montara, Moss Beach and El Granada, known as Rancho Corral de Tierra.  To join, or for more information, just e-mail me, bechtell@comcast.net.  The membership list will not be shared, or used for any other purposes.  Montara Dog Group now has over 360 members.

For more information on the GGNRA “Dog Management Plan/EIS”, click on the “GGNRA DMP” button at the top of this page.  There are also buttons for Montara Dog Group’s comments on the draft Dog Management Plan/EIS, and the draft General Management Plan.

Other buttons are for a blog,  map of the Montara area showing location of poop cans, Montara Dog Group’s leash protocol, gallery of photos, maps of Rancho Corral de Tierra showing historical off leash dog walking areas, and useful links.
